Happy Birthday Ruby!

Ruby, my sweet girl, is five years old today! It is hard to believe she has been in our family for 4 1/2 years already!  God has definitely taken us on a wild ride with her, but we feel blessed to have her in our family. He graciously spared her life and allows us to love on her this side of heaven.

Birthdays usually bring discouraging thoughts about where Ruby is at developmentally, but today I mostly felt peace. She is a beautiful little girl who enjoys life; I want to celebrate that! Her smile melts my heart and I love how she has changed our family for the better.  That doesn't mean I always love how things are. I would take her special needs away in a heartbeat if I could but that is not the plan God had for our family and I am at peace about that.
