These verses from 1 Timothy 6:17-19 hit me this week:
17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
I think if I read this a couple of years ago I would have dismissed it thinking that I am not "rich" so this verse doesn't apply to me. Only in this past year have I started to realize how truly rich I am. I drive a car which is more than more than 90% of the rest of the world can say. By the world's standards, I am rich becuase I live on way more than $2 a day.
It just got me thinking again.... What am I doing to be rich in good deeds? What am I doing to be generous and willing to share?

I know what you mean. The movie we watched in chapel on Thursday really hit me, I think that it made a lot of the other students realize how blessed we really are. Thanks for showing that movie!
Kelli, those sure are powerful verses. If we let it, it really makes us stop and think about our choices and our lifestyle and our ability to make a difference in the lives of others.
