Ruby has always liked to move and we found out early on that swings really calm her. For awhile she used a baby swing and when she grew out of that we hung a swing under our deck with some extra neck support. Then, when cold weather hit, we weren't sure what to do. One day during an Early On therapy session, her occupational therapist suggested we put Ruby in a blanket and swing her to try and calm her down. Right when we picked her up in the blanket she started giggling. After that I knew I had to find a swing for her to use inside. About that time I came across a swing from IKEA that another special needs mom had posted about on her blog. It looked like it would be perfect for Ruby, so we ordered a bar to hang the swing on from a special needs website and then when we were in Montreal we purchased the Ekorre swing from IKEA (only $40!) She LOVES it! The higher we push her the more she giggles. This was a great investment.
If any of you are interested, we purchased the bar from The Rainy Day Indoor Playground.
Charlie and Tiger love the swing too :)
