We found out today that Ruby is in the hospital in Ethiopia and we think she has been there for about a week. Our social worker has again assured us that it is not anything serious and that she is getting better, but of course this has us very worried. We knew she was not feeling well, but we didn't know she was in the hospital. I am frustrated that I don't know what she has and that I can't be there for her. I feel pretty helpless.
We also heard that the other families that we were hoping to travel with got embassy appointments today. They are traveling on Aug. 15. I am very excited for them (Congrats Ben and Holly and Beth!), but I am pretty bummed that it looks like we won't be able to travel with them like we had thought, unless things go amazingly fast this week. Because Ruby is sick, she hasn't been able to get her passport; she needs this before she can get an embassy appointment.
On a positive note, we did hear that the immigration office in Detroit re-sent our paperwork to the National Visa Center so hopefully they will send it to the embassy in Ethiopia.
Please pray that Ruby is well enough to go back to the orphanage soon and that she can get her passport ASAP. We would love to travel on Aug. 15 and if that is going to happen then we need God to intervene and help things really move along quickly this week. Also pray that I will not be anxious about everything; I really want to be able to take care of Ruby and right now I can't so I have to trust God is giving her what she needs.
Thanks again for your support.

We love you and we, too, are fighting anxiety over Ruby not feeling well. We only can trust that this is a trial that God is sending to see if we will all remain faithful. We are praying and pleading...

I'll keep your little girl Ruby, you and Mark in our prayers. It would be wonderful if you could still travel with Beth (my sister).

Kelli!
I check your blog almost every day to see if that little precious one is on her way yet... I am praying for a speedy recovery, I can't imagine how you guys must feel. I know it is hard to be patient, but hang in there. Remember there is a plan in all of this!
Always,

Kelli,
I am a good friend of Beth's and used to live in West Michigan and still have family there. Beth shared in an e-mail yesterday to pray for you guys. I just wanted to let you know I did. I hope that you guys can travel to Ethiopia soon! I'll keep praying for you.
Oh my goodness...I can't even imagine. Definitely lifting you up in my prayers...all three of you. I really love Ruby's bedroom and am praying that sooner rather than later, she will be enjoying her room too.
we're praying...health/visas/passport
