Ethiopia update

Hey everyone, Kelli's dad here again. After a rough day Friday, we prayed and waited for news yesterday about how Saturday was going for little Ruby. I'll forward Kelli's email so you can see for yourself. God is good! Keep praying! Thanks!

Hi everyone-

Yesterday we went to see Ruby for the first time. It was great to finally hold her and kiss her. She wasn't doing as well as we had hoped yesterday. We took her to get chest x-rays and they confirmed that she has pneumonia. We were pretty worried about her yesterday as her breathing was hard and the doctor wasn't sure if she would be well enough to leave next Thursday.

So, after a rough night with little sleep, we went again to see her this morning. Thankfully, she seems to be doing much better. She seemed more relaxed and she was breathing easier, even some of the time without oxygen. The doc. stopped by and seemed much friendlier than yesterday. He speaks English so that is very helpful. He was very encouraged by her progress and said that she would possibly be ready to be discharged on Monday and then we could take her to the hotel with us. This is way different than what he said yesterday so we were very pleased. He told us he doesn't know if she has bacterial or viral pneumonia, but they are treating her with antibiotics like it is bacterial. She will continue to get medicine until she leaves the hospital and then he may give us a prescription for her plane ride home, else he said we could also give her infant Tylenol to make her comfortable. So-- we were very excited to see that she is doing much better. Thanks for the prayers; God is answering them. Her eyes looked more alive and she was eating well this morning too. We bought more diapers, formula and wipes for her as they don't have any of this at the hospital. We also brought clothes, socks, a hat and a blanket for her. It is sad to see they are so under supplied, but we are glad we could be there to give these things to her. All in all, we are very encouraged and we will go to see her again tomorrow. The hospital is pretty close to the hotel, but we have to have a driver to get there, so right now we are spending a few hours each day there. We feel like we are a little in the way if we stay all day and she just needs to sleep.

This afternoon we went to the market and bought a few things-- that was fun. Now we are eating at the hotel and we will crash early tonight.

Love you all- thanks again for all of your prayers.

Kelli and Mark
