Update

Thanks for all of your prayers. It was a scary morning as I was not expecting Ruby to have to be admitted to the hospital, but I realize it is a good thing we are here because Ruby is getting the best care around. It is also a good thing that she is getting so many tests done as hopefully in a few days we will know a lot more about her and be able to treat her properly.

So far, we have met with the attending doctor and an occupational therapist. The doctor looked Ruby over pretty thoroughly and he seemed to like what he saw. He gave us a steroid cream to treat her rash and he tested the abscess she has on her shoulder. We later found out that this is a staph infection so they are treating that with oral antibiotics. He didn't seem to concerned about her neurologically because she was very alert and she was tracking things with her eyes and eating well. So far, he didn't order an MRI, but we will see what the specialists say tomorrow. The therapist assessed Ruby and will be around again tomorrow to do some therapy on her because she holds her hands and feet very tightly. They said they could possibly splint Ruby's hands so she gets used to having them open, but that hasn't been decided yet. Ruby also had an x-ray done on her skull to check out how her skull is forming and she had blood drawn so the doctors can run a bunch of tests.

Tomorrow we will meet with an infectious disease specialist, a peds development doctor, a physical therapist and hopefully a few other doctors to get results from all the blood work. As scary as it is to have a child in the hospital, we are glad Ruby is getting well taken care of. We are hoping that these tests rule out most things and that we can take home a fairly healthy little girl in a few days.

Thanks again for all of your prayers. It is such a blessing to know God is holding Ruby in His hands and that we are surrounded by a community of believers. We will post more tomorrow when we have new info.
