Charlie Update

Things are looking up today. I got a great night of sleep thanks to my mom who stayed at our house and got up with Ruby. It is amazing what sleep can do. I came to the hospital at about 9:30 this morning after a stop at Zeeland Bakery. I love chocolate long johns with pudding in the middle and I felt that I deserved a little splurge this morning :) Of course I got one for Mark too. When I got to hospital, Mark left to go pick up his mom from the airport. A little while later my mom brought Ruby to us and then we all hung out at the hospital for awhile. My dad and brother, Kris, came to visit also. This afternoon, Mark was able to go home and sleep for an hour and his mom when to the store to buy groceries and she is now cooking some meals to put in our freezer! It will be so nice to pull those out in the next couple of weeks.

Charlie has been out of his isolette for a couple of hours now and he is holding his own temp! It is still a little on the low side, but it has stayed pretty stable for about 3 hours. We have two hats on him and he is wrapped in blankets right now. The hope would be that his temp would continue to stay stable enough for us to be able to go home. So far they have not found a cause for his low temperature. It doesn't appear to be an infection so we are hoping this just happened because he was small. He was using so much energy to stay warm that he wasn't eating well and that lack of calories made his temp drop even more. It seems his twitching has calmed down also. We have an EEG scheduled at DeVos next week, but if we don't see much in the next couple of days we might cancel that appointment. I am praying hard that it is nothing and we don't have to go through with the EEG. So, things are looking better and we are hoping to be able to go home (and stay there) tomorrow.

Last Valentine's Day we had no idea we would be spending this Valentine's Day in the hospital with two kids, but they are both a blessing and we cannot imagine our life without them now. I am so grateful for my husband, who continues to take such good care of us all. He wouldn't want me to be mushy on the blog, but I want him to know that I love him and I am very thankful for his support and encouragement.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hadn't read your blog since last week, so we had no idea what was going on! I am glad to hear that Charlie is doing better. If you ever need anything, we are so close to the hospital, so don't hesitate to call. We will be praying for Charlie and your whole family!

Hoping that Charlie's temp becomes regulated so you can all be home together.
