After a fabulous time in MN, we are settled back at home. The kids did great on the trip and we had a wonderful time seeing lots of friends and family. We ate a lot, played games, went bowling and swimming, open presents, worshipped together at church, read, drove, watched reruns of The Office and laughed a lot. It was a great vacation. I have many picture to post soon. Thanks Dad and Mom TH for everything!
Ruby is still having a handful of seizures each day, but as we wean from the steroids she is a much happier girl. We are sad about the seizure activity, but we still feel good about our decision to get her off steroids. She will be completely of the steroids in about a week; after that we will have to decide whether or not to put her on another seizure med to at least keep the seizures controlled as much as possible. What we do will depend on what kind of seizure activity she is having off steroids.
We are getting more and more involved with the holistic protocol for neurological inflammation that Ruby is starting. All the supplements she has to take and different tests that have to be run force me to be pretty organized to keep everything straight, but we are hopeful it will all be worth it if we see improvements over the next several months. We are also getting serious about traveling to Montreal in April to start ABR therapy with Ruby. This week I am going to send in a video of her for them to evaluate to see if ABR would be good for her and then how we move forward from there will depend on what they say. All of these "alternative" therapies bring a little hope that Ruby's quality of life will improve, but they all cost money and they are not covered by insurance, so we are trying to be wise about when to do what. We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom for these next steps.
I hope you all had a great Christmas break and have a good start to your New Year. Thanks again for your prayers and support!

Kelli, I'm glad you had a great Christmas... may your New Year be blessed! I'll be praying for wisdom and direction for you guys as you seek out the best treatment options for Ruby.
Praying too. Glad to hear you're getting your old Ruby back as far as her personality goes though. I can't imagine giving her meds that you know are going to make you all miserable. You guys are doing great. I am glad Ruby has parents like you and Mark who are willing to be flexible and do new things to improve her quality of life. You are a blessed family!
