I found out about this amazing documentary through another adoptive friend. It looks like a powerful film about race relations in America. Check it out here.
Following up this documentary there was a great interview that really opened my eyes to how black people in our society view themselves. The doll test that is done at the beginning of the interview is especially sad.
Check it out here. It is the first video at the top, but the others are interesting as well.

The doll test was the part that really got me. It is so sad to see those adorable little kids who are so beautiful and how they thought that the white doll was better. It made me think about Holly too....I really miss her a lot!
Oh I saw that before, and I thought the same thing. It's such a shame that they grown up thinking they aren't good enough!! And, it's crazy hard to find an african american doll anywhere!!! It's really terrible!!
I have seen a preview for that movie somewhere before and I want to see it. I had also heard about the doll test back in my education classes, but had never actually seen kids get asked those questions. It's difficult to wrap your mind around it. It would be interesting to see what the answers would be if there were more than just two dolls there... say 4 or even 5. I felt bad that once the kids had already decided which doll was the "good" doll, there was only one other choice for which doll was the "bad" doll.
