Ruby is having a new kind of seizure. She has had a few of them over the last several months, but they weren't happening often, so we decided just to watch them. Now, she has had four of them this week so I am getting a little worried. The neurologist would like to try a med to control them; because they are different then her spasms, there is a chance the med would control the new seizures even when it didn't control the spasms. We have loved watching her giggle and smile so much lately and we don't want to lose some of that by putting her back on medication again, but we also can't let her seizures get out of control either. I am talking to her neurofeedback and holistic health docs to see if a medication would interfere with what we are doing on those fronts. We will have to wait to hear from them before we make a decision. The neuro is also interested in doing a 24 hour EEG in the hospital so he can see exactly what is going on. I am not against this because we haven't done a long EEG in a while, but staying in the hospital overnight does sound exhausting.
We covet your prayers as we make another hard decision about Ruby's treatment. We desire to do what is best for her, without losing her smile and personality in the process. Please pray for direction and for God to stop these icky new seizures.

So sorry to hear this, we will continue to pray . . . for peace of mind and for God's strength to get you through the tough times! Much love sent to you!
I'm so sorry Kelli! :( Praying for you guys as you figure out what your next steps will be.
Have we connected before? I don't know how I just found your blog....the title new seizures got my attention. If we have, forgive me, Abe just started sleeping. :)
Will pray for you- this is always a struggle to find the balance. We did a 24 hourn EEG. It didn't reveal anything new, but the process wasn't too bad. Sweet Ruby has a smile so much like Abe's. What a gift. :)
Kelli, I have been following your blog for awhile...I'm not sure how I came across it [maybe through the Wright's blog? Julie and I were housemates during our days at Calvin] I would love your email address and talk to you more indepth about adoption. My husband & I are ecstatic and feel God calling us to adopt from Ethiopia, but that definitely does not come without some doubts and fears! I would love to email you some questions! Praying for you guys.
In Him
