Charlie has been a little under the weather, so yesterday when he wanted to drink out of a juice box by himself, I gave in. I put him in his high chair, popped the straw in and handed it to him. He took it carefully and drank gingerly out of the straw. At that moment I was so proud. I was thinking how great it would be if I could let him drink juice boxes in the car by himself and then I thought about how fast my baby was growing up...... I turned my back to Charlie for ten seconds to grab the camera (so I could remember this momentous occasion) and when I turned around he was giggling and squeezing the juice box so hard that orange Hi-C was squirting out the straw all over himself and the dining room walls. I set the camera down and got out a paper towel instead. I guess my little man isn't as grown up as I thought :)
I still am thankful for Charlie's zest for life, but I am also thankful for bibs and paper towels.
