Craziness

It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks but I think things are finally settling down over here.  We had Ruby's surgery, recovery, Mark's trip to the Big Ten Tournament, a visit from family and a big concert at school that I helped direct all in the last two weeks.  Thankfully, everything went really well and we are now on the other end of things sighing with relief :)

Ruby has been doing well since the feeding tube was put in. She struggled for a couple of days after surgery but now that we seem to have figured out how much to give her at once and her incision is healing, she is doing much better.  The tube is easier and I think that we made the right decision in moving forward with it. I don't like having "medical" stuff in my house, like the tubes, bags and cans of pediasure that come along with the g-tube, but just like anything, we will get used to it.  Feeding Ruby is much easier now and she is actually enjoying a few bites of her favorite foods instead of fighting us during meals.  I am hoping that as her body adjusts we will continue to see her "perk up" a little now that she is getting the nutrition she needs.

Mark had a great time at the Big Ten Tournament with his Dad and brothers and I enjoyed having his Mom  stay with me to help out with the kids. It was great to catch up with his family as we only get to see them every couple of months.

The musical at Zeeland Christian that I helped to direct went well also. I was proud of the kids and all the work they put in over the last few months. It was a rewarding project to be a part of.

So now life calms down again and we can settle back into our normal routine. The beautiful weather has been great; all the kids enjoy time outdoors. Walking is something we can do with all of the kids so this nice weather allows us to be together as a family more.  We look forward to being out and about this spring; last year I was on bed rest during the spring and early summer so I can't wait to enjoy more activity this year.

Thanks again for all of your prayers during Ruby's surgery and recovery. We had a few emotional moments, but God was good and gave us a generous dose of peace through the whole thing.
