Ruby and Mark slept okay. It sounds like Ruby slept on and off all night, whimpering whenever she woke up from any little sound. Mark didn't want to wake her up but pulling out the couch bed, so he slept on a mat that was already laying on the floor...poor guy! After 6am she had another screaming fit for 45 minutes so they gave her more morphine again.
I feel so bad that she has to be in pain; we didn't realize the recovery would be this painful. Also, I think Ruby is extra sensitive to anything uncomfortable or different in her world so that makes her reaction to this worse. Once she gets going she is hard to calm down. Hopefully by tomorrow she will be feeling a lot calmer with less pain.
The plan for today is to start feeding her through the tube at 9am. They will give her an ounce at 9am, 2 ounces at noon, 3 ounces at 3pm...etc until she can tolerate a full feeding. When she can tolerate the feedings, her pain is under control and we have learned how to manage the tube, then we can go home. Hopefully this will be by tomorrow!
I have a rehearsal at school this morning for the elementary musical that my Dad and I are directing. The performance is in a little over a week away so I need to be there. Once I am done I will head up to the hospital again to be with Ruby and Mark. My parents took Charlie and Tabatha home last night to sleep and I think they slept really well so that is an answer to prayer!
Mike and Jess and Mom and Dad-- thanks so much for helping with the kids! We appreciate you!
This verse popped into my head this morning from a song I learned when I was a little kid and it encouraged me...
Peace, I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
Continue prayers for less pain for Ruby would be appreciate! Thanks!
