Date Night and Sleep

We had a great night last night for two reasons--
One- We went out on a date! Thanks to family friends, Jim and Belinda, who took our kids for the evening, we were able to go out to eat together. It was very nice to sit and talk without beind distract by Ruby or Charlie. We also went to Kohl's and my husband put up with me trying on clothes and I was able to buy a shirt and new pair of pants! (Not a lot of my pants fit me anymore :) He hates to shop usually but he was very gracious this time :)

Two- Ruby slept through the night! This has never happened before, even though she is ten months old. When we first got her home, she was very scared to be in her crib alone, so she slept in our room. Then, since we have been dealing with seizures, her schedule has been thrown off by her meds or diet. So, it has been a battle trying to get her to sleep the whole night. Finally, last night, she sleep for 8 hours straight! We are very excited to have her continue on this trend.

Developmentally, Ruby is having a great week. She is smiling a lot and moving her legs and arms more than she did a month ago. She is eating baby cereal and baby food without too many problems and she is tolerating being on her tummy more than before. She is still having around 40 little seizures a day, so we are increasing her medication to see if that will help calm them down. Friday we go to Detroit Children's Hospital to meet with Dr. Chugani, a pediatric neurosurgeon who specializes in epilepsy and has worked with a lot of kids who have infantile spasms like Ruby. We are hoping he has some ideas of how to help Ruby. There is always hope in a new medicine or a new doctor, so once again, we are feeling hopeful that this doctor can help us.

Thanks again for all your support!

That's awesome that you got to go out on a date, you have a great support system of family & friends. I'm thankful that Ruby seems to be doing well now, even with those seizures. Let's hope this new doctor has some good ideas for you. :)

I am so glad you had some time away and enjoyed yourselves. I remember the doctor you are taking Ruby too, my sister saw him years ago and he shed a lot of light on her situation with her seizures.
