Thanks Melissa!

I had a great time with my cousin Melissa the past several days. It was so much fun to have her around; what a blessing to be able to have an extra pair of hands all week! She helped me bake, cook, clean and take care of Ruby and Charlie. We also were able to go shopping because Mark volunteered to stay with the kiddos Friday night. It is amazing what a new purse and a mint oreo blizzard at Dairy Queen can cure :) I feel refreshed after spending time sharing and laughing with a good friend. Thanks so much for flying out here Melissa! I wish we lived closer, but it was great to spend a few quality days together.

Tomorrow night we leave for Detroit. Mark and I and the kids are staying in a hotel tomorrow night because Ruby has to be at the Children's Hospital by 7:15am Tuesday morning. She will first have a 4 hour EEG and then a PET scan. Unfortunately, she won't be able to eat after 6:30am, so I am hoping she does okay. I doubt we will get any results tomorrow yet, but hopefully we know what the tests showed by the end of the week. We are praying hard that Ruby will be a surgical candidate, but if that is not the case, hopefully the doctor will at least be able to better treat Ruby after he reads the scans.

Developmentally, Ruby has had a good couple of days. She is smiling a lot and moving more than she ever has. She continues to get better at eating baby cereal and she seems to be looking around more. I feel like she focuses on my face better than she used to. She is a joy to have around.

Charlie is trooper. He will get dragged to the hospital with us Tuesday, but he is such an easy going baby I think he will do just fine. He is 6 weeks old now and he is more alert and awake everyday. He loves the swing and his bouncy seat and he spends a lot of time staring at his hands. He has slept through the night twice in the past week; I am hoping he continues to do that more and more. I think I got a smile today, although it might have just been gas :) It has been so much fun getting to know this little guy!

That is so great that you got a helper all week! I hope Ruby's tests work out well to make her a surgical candidate...
