It seems like neurofeedback is really working for Ruby. We are working on lowering the frequency of her theta brainwaves. (Click
here for another post that explains more about neurofeedback). When we started about two months ago, her theta would often be in the 70s or even in the 80s. After about 20 hours of neurofeedback, her theta was staying in the high 40s. Last weekend, after about 40 hours of treatment, her theta waves dropped into the 30s!! When her theta is lower, she has less seizures and she sleeps much better; she also tends to be a lot calmer and happier. Today when I hooked her up, she was in the 50s again, but it is really common to have it jump around for a little while until the brain makes a permanent change. We used to jump around from 65-80 and now we are jumping around from 35-55 so we are excited about this progress. We are very hopeful that neurofeedback will help Ruby gain more seizure control.
Since we got home from Minnesota a few weeks ago, she has been sleeping great! We increased her melatonin ( a natural sleeping supplement) and decreased her prescription sleeping pills. This seems to be a much better combo for her; hopefully she doesn't need the extra sleeping meds because neurofeedback is helping her to stay calm and go back to sleep easier.
Tiger is Ruby's neurofeedback buddy :)

I am so thankful to hear that it is working and I love the pic of Tiger and Ruby- just precious!
It was great to meet you tonight. I have followed your story through Beth and say my prayers for your family for further progress!
Really encouraged to hear about Ruby's response to the biofeedback. She is a real cutie.
Yea!!! I know it can be scary to go with anything that is different than the "traditional" route in the medical field (not to mention costly!). I love hearing about positive results!
