Day 8

Charlie is two months old today! I would usually post a picture of him, but my camera battery is dead right now... maybe tomorrow I will get a 2 month shot, one day late :)

Unfortunately we are still in the hospital. Charlie is slowly starting to tolerate some formula. We are giving him a special formula from a medical supply company that is much easier on his stomach because all the protein is already broken down in it. Most of today he has been able to keep down about 1 ounce every 2 hours, although he did vomit once today. He gained a very small amount through out the day, so I am really hoping that we are finally heading in the right direction. If Charlie cannot keep this formula down tomorrow then the doctor will think about putting a tube down his nose that will slowly drip feed him througout the day. I do not want to have do this because that will mean a longer hospital stay and I don't want to have to intervene like that-- I want Charlie to be able to eat on his own. We are not exactly sure why he can't keep his food down. The doctor thinks it may just be that he has bad reflux and on top of the RSV his body is just very sensitive to formula.

I am tired of staying in the hospital and I am really hoping we can all be together as a family, at home, very soon, at least for a couple of days. Soon, maybe next week, Ruby will have to be admitted to DeVos for a few days to start her steriod treatments for her seizures. I hope we are out of here soon so I don't have two kids in two different hospitals. I am not letting my brain go there yet, hopefully Charlie is on the mend. We will see what tomorrow brings. Thanks for your prayers!

Arlene and I are praying for the babies, for the doctors and nurses who are caring for them and for you two. All this can be stressful on a marriage.

God, bless Mark and Kelli. May they grow closer to you and closer to each other as they go through these health struggles together. Amen

Charlie, keep it up! Or I guess I should say "down"! ;) Glad to hear he gained a little bit of weight... praying he gains more today and doesn't throw anything up.
