Once Again...
...we have some bad news. Ruby tested positive for something called CMV which is a virus. Many people can test positive for this, but it usually doesn't cause any problems. Unfortunately, the ACTH shots that Ruby was taking really supress the immune system, so if we continue the shots there is a chance that her CMV may become dangerous. So, for now, we have to stop the shots. Ruby is going to an infectious disease doctor tomorrow to see what we need to do next. We are feeling pretty defeated. We will keep you posted.

I am so sorry that there is yet another obstacle for Ruby, and for you guys. You are in my prayers daily, I wish there was more that I could say to help. :(
oh for goodness sakes....I am feeling so frustrated for you!! I know that there are situatons for which one will never understand the WHY!???, but I am praying that you receive answers and health for all soon!!
i am very sorry.
Hey Kelli,
I'll be praying for Ruby. Ellie contracted this just a few weeks after she was born. In her case, it caused a temporary hepatomegaly and spenomegaly (enlarged liver and spleen) as well as other symptoms. Her liver numbers were off for a few months because of it. It shouldn't have any lasting damaging effects though... it is MOST dangerous if contracted in utero; congenitally. Praying Ruby has a speedy recovery.
Also, most young kids who go to daycare/nursery contract it, but only a few lucky ones exhibit the symptoms like Ruby and Ellie. Otherwise it seems like a cold for most kids and adults.
Hang in there. Praying for you
Praying for your family!
2 Corinthians 4:8-10, 16-18
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
praying for you!
WOW, I am stunned! My heart just hurts for you guys. I hope Ruby recovers soon. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers. IF there is anything i can do to help, let me know.
{hugs}
Oh I feel so frustrated for you guys. Praying that you hear some good news soon!
Oh my gosh. Do they think she had this since in ET? Or contracted here in the US? Praying for little Ruby!
Maybe since Ethiopia, they are not sure yet. If she had it since she was born then this could be the cause of her seizures and other neurological issues, we are trying to figure this all out.
Kelli
